Today is my birthday, happy birthday to me.

I'm poor, broke(n), and have no means to an end. I wish i was a chick so i could go around asking for free drinks. Or maybe even still a man, just a man with breasts, that might work too. On second thought i'd rather just be a chick, go all or go home right?

So, i drove today without a full liscense *gasp*. That was fun. Took my uncle to the airport, so i guess that part was only partially illegal as i should have gotten my bc license some 4-5 odd months ago. On the way back i had to drive the car to the mechanic, it just made more sense then leaving it parked at the airport, and then bussing out there later, to drive it the 5 minutes to the mechanic. Instead i did all the dirty work, but i'm so glad i did. I love the feeling of driving, even if it is a p.o.s. There's just something about being behind the wheel. Especially when i was alone in the car and radar love came on the radio. Woo z95, even though i never listen to it....

Anyway, i'm pretty screwed for hitch hiking back to winnipeg. I'll probably still do it, but i wouldn't be suprised if i arrived with a cold....or worse. I still have no tent or sleeping bag, so i'm going to rely on getting to my destination by the end of each day. I go from here to calgary in one day, then from calgary to moosejaw, then from moosejaw to winnipeg. I figure it shouldn't be too hard because all of those places are on the #1 heading east. I would still like to have a sleeping bag, or at the very least a tent, but i'll make due (do?) with what i have.

There is a tent here, but it's pretty big and heavy, then there's also the screen room thingy, but that's also fair sized and bulky. Ultimately it would be awesome to have both, a killer village could be in the works if such an event was to occur. But at present, i don't know if i'm capable of bringing either.

comments or suggestions?

as a side note, i decided to back up my music to mp3 cds. I'm sick of losing all my songs at the wrong moment, so now at least i have about10 cds full of mp3s to keep me in check. The rest of my songs still need to be converted to mp3. *shakes his fist at m4a's* I knew i shouldn't have bought into that shite.

Went and saw star wars last night with my mom. That was pretty cool cuz we haven't had much of a chance to go out and be social together, mostly due to our financial situation, but also in part to how busy she is. It was nice to just go out and not worry about what has to be accomplished that night.

The movie itself was pretty good, I won't say i was disapointed because i don't have much faith in natalie portmans acting in the first place. The chancellor was most excellent in the first hour or so of the film. I enjoyed the parallel's which were drawn between good and evil. Obi wan definately took the stage as far as acting went, his character had me feeling in the moment. I was filled with this anxious feeling because being the stupid boy i am, i read way too much fan fiction and other star wars related material, including a very old storyline at the time which was known as 'the fall of the republic' which i would guess was later renamed to 'revenge of the sith'. Much of it i don't exactly recall, but specifically what i remember was anakins fate, which remained exactly as i envisioned it. I suppose that's all i can really say about that without truely spoiling shit.

All in all i enjoyed the movie quite thoroughly, and i'd say it made up for all my disapointments in the first two episodes.

1) Total number of books owned?
atm, mostly magazines. The rest are my moms. I left all my books in winnipeg.

2) The last book I bought?
various school textbooks, or a guitar magazine (guitar world salutes dimebag darrell)

3) The last book I read?
I managed to finish trainspotting around the same time i finished hamlet.

4)Five books that mean a lot to me:
I think if i am asked when i'm less tired, and can recall more of the books i've read, my answers will be different.

1. Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh - The movie, good as it is, doesn't do this book enough justice.
2. Collectively the hitchhikers "trilogy" of 5 books by douglas adams.
3. The Great Gatsby by Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, I'm reading this for my grade 12 eng. and i really like how colourful he portrays his characters, and the timesetting.
4. Enders Game, and Enders Shadow by Orson Scott Card. I'd recommend reading the former before the latter, but it's written in a way that tells the same story from two different perspectives. Enders game is probably better, but both are good im(not so humble)o.
5. It's a tossup between 1984 and Animal Farm both by George Orwell.

5. Five people whose answers I'd like to see:

dreybeta
revelininsanity
shylahfaerie
meerkatastic
the_borderline

EDIT: I would actually like to see answers from most people on my friends page, if you feel like giving me your answers, please do.

I'm kind of in a slight dilemma. As most of you know, I'm very indecisive, so I'm making a poll to help resolve the issue at hand.

Here's the sitch.

My guitar seen here, has a standard strat style tremolo system. You know, the kind that makes you go out of tune the moment you even think about using it. Most people tell me "i dun even really use that thing" or "i have a floating bridge, but i put a block of wood inside to make it fixed." Well, most of those people don't know how use a tremolo bar and thus wouldn't need to.

I'm thinking of installing a floyd rose system on my guitar. It would cost me roughly $300 after the locking nuts and my guitar would probably sound slightly worse intonation wise (fixed bridges always sound better). On the plus side, my guitar would stay in tune and i could do some crazy tricks, like divebombs, or the screams that dimebag made.

The dilemma is this. A friend of mine wants to sell me her guitar for $200. It's not quite in working condition, she would fix it for an extra $50, or i could fix it and juust pay the $200. The point is, it has a floyd rose tremolo system and i could either strip it and place it on my guitar, or just use it as my tremolo guitar. I really want to try and mod mine up just cuz it's my first guitar and it would be cool to look back on her and go "she used to look like that!?!?!?" $300 is alot to put into a guitar that only cost $307 in the first place. If i did that, i would probably take it to the next level and get some good pickups for it too. Most people would tell me "go to long and mcquade and finance a les paul" which i probably will do eventually but right now i think i'm content on either my guitar, or another guitar that has a tremolo bridge. So, here it is.

Poll #495719 Guitar mods

How should $300 be spent on Guitar stuff?

Put a Floyd Rose system in Alice (my red guitar)

Buy the $200 guitar that has a floyd rose system
3(100.0%)
Put a down payment on something from long and mcquade and pay it off for the next year or so.

Many of you have made effort to contact me regarding my recent disapearence. We've been having a problem with the fuse box that requires the electrician to come in and look at the faulty wiring job. It has half of our apartment inoperable at the moment. Mel was here for a few days and is awesome. I hope she made it to calgary in time to catch her bus. If not i'll feel real bad =(. Someone in winnipeg let me know if you hear from her before i do. My moms computer is in worse shape than mine, and mine is in pretty rough shape. But at least i don't have trojans and worms riddling my system (we are on a network so who knows how long that'll last). It should be okay for now because it's quarentined and disconnected. In the meantime i'm using her lcd. I hope she doesn't mind. I can't use my computer cuz it's on the busted breaker circuit. This one works fine so i just dragged my box over. I figured it'd be like killing two birds with one stone. We'll see what she thinks of it when she comes back tomorrow.

I was able to finally go on a bike ride because i got the bike that is being lent to me. I went out to the second narrows bridge initially, that was really cool because you get going so fast going down and it's so long, it looks like you're at the end of a long hallway and you're running but not getting anywhere. I took a really long way to come home, going through north vancouver and out to the lions gate bridge. I didn't take my camera cuz the batteries were dead =( otherwise i'd have pictures. Instead i'll just post a
mapCollapse ) of the route i took.

And since everyone has taken it upon themselves to post a picture or a peice of text, and then make us aware of the fact they aren't using a cut, i've decided to jump aboard the bandwagon. TAKE THIS PEICE OF SATELLITE IMAGERY FRIENDS PAGE!
